MEET CHUONG VO

I’m Chuong Vo:  husband, dad, former Mayor of Cerritos, and a 28-year law-enforcement officer. I planned my retirement around spending more time with my son through his last years of high school. Since then, crime rose, costs climbed, and politics got meaner and less honest. I’ve always been a problem solver which is why friends and community leaders asked me to step up. I said yes because service is what I know and am passionate about.

On the Council and as Mayor, I focused on safe neighborhoods, responsive city services, and fiscal responsibility. I’ve also served on the California Joint Powers Insurance Authority’s executive board, one of the state’s largest risk-management pools, so I understand complex budgets, liability, and how to protect taxpayers.

I’ve always kept my integrity. When contributions came in after a council election, I returned them, and made my decisions based on what I believed was right for the community. I’ll take the same approach to congress. That’s why I support holding Congress accountable including ending insider stock trading once and for all.

My wife Traci, who is a classroom teacher, and I are blessed with two kids and like so many immigrant families, I’m grateful to a country that gave my family a chance, and I want to help keep that promise alive for the next generation.

“I’ve spent nearly three decades answering 911 calls in the middle of the night, and I’ve helped improve public policies and balance budgets at my city. I’m running for Congress to focus on doing the basics well: keep families safe, lower costs, and hold all levels of government accountable.”

VO ON THE ISSUES

  • Public Safety

Government’s first job is keeping families safe. I’ll always back law enforcement and work to strengthen trust with standards that work for both local and federal authorities: body-worn cameras, de-escalation training, and proven community-policing tactics. We’ll hit organized retail theft with federal task forces and take on the fentanyl supply chain, from Chinese precursor suppliers to Mexican cartels, so dealers and suppliers face real consequences.

I’ll push to: increase penalties for fentanyl trafficking; expand data-sharing against organized theft; fully fund training and equipment so officers and federal agents can do the job safely and professionally.

  • Lower Cost of Living

Families feel it in their wallets: at the pump, the grocery store, and in their insurance bills. I’ll vote to cut wasteful spending that fuels inflation, protect Social Security and Medicare for today’s seniors, and apply a mayor’s discipline to every dollar: targeting fraud and duplication rather than just ask taxpayers to pay more.

I’ll push to: audit waste and fraud across all agencies; streamline permits and infrastructure that lower costs; protect earned benefits for seniors while safeguarding long-term solvency by cracking down on fraud and abuse.

  • Address Homelessness & Fentanyl

The federal government spends billions with too little to show. Funding must come with accountability and outcomes: treatment, shelter, and recovery that move people off the streets, while enforcing no-camping rules near schools and parks. And we’ll treat fentanyl like the public-safety emergency it is.

I’ll push to: audit grants and contracts; strip funding from ineffective programs; prioritize mental-health and addiction treatment beds tied to measurable results; and crack down on fentanyl traffickers and pill-press operations.

  • Improve Education Outcomes

Parents should be partners in education. Let’s raise reading, math, and science performance, expand CTE and STEM pathways, and keep classrooms focused on learning, not politics. My wife Traci is a classroom teacher, I know teachers need more support. I’ll support better funding for tutoring and proven literacy programs, so every child learns to read on time and graduates ready for college or a good career.

  • Smart Border & Legal Immigration

We’re a nation of laws and a nation of immigrants. I know firsthand the importance of immigration and doing it the right way. I’ll support secure borders and faster asylum decisions, paired with better training and resources for agents so enforcement is effective, safe, and professional. We don’t need more racial profiling; we do need agents to have the right tools, techniques, and accountability. We must also modernize legal immigration so employers can hire lawfully, and families follow a fair, orderly process.

  • Clean Government & Accountability

No more sweetheart deals. I’ll fight to end congressional insider stock trading. I’ll demand transparent budgets, tough audits, and stronger ethics rules, because taxpayer dollars should go to results, not insiders. That’s how I’ve led locally, and it’s how I’ll lead in Washington.

  • Standing with Allies, Avoiding New Wars

I support Israel’s right to self-defense and targeted aid with strict oversight. Across the world, America should be strong and smart: help allies with technology, training, and equipment; keep aid accountable; and reserve U.S. forces for extraordinary circumstances like saving American lives. We do not need boots on the ground and endless wars that cost too many American lives and treasure.
